Free Software UG celebrate Ubuntu release


Tvm: The GNU / Linux and Free Software Users Group in Thiruvananthapuram organised an Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx Release Party today at the Trivandrum Press Club.

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is the latest version of the popular Linux desktop distribution from Canonical. The Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Desktop Edition features extensive design work, faster boot speed, an online music store, a new look and social network integration with , three years of support through free security and maintenance updates. It’s available for free download from April 29, 2010.

Organised by the Free Software User Group of Trivandrum in association with SPACE and Zyxware Technologies, the Ubuntu Release Party started off with introduction to Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx followed by cake cutting. A session of Ubuntu basics was also held. An Install Fest and CD distribution were the other events of the programme. About 50 Ubuntu enthusiasts attended the party.
