GTech launches strategy sessions for SMEs

Tvm: GTech, the Group of Technology Companies in collaboration with Technopark and Technopark Business Incubation Centre (T-BIC) has launched strategy sessions for SMEs. These sessions are aimed at building competitiveness among the small and medium enterprises in Technopark and other government owned parks in Kerala.

Christened INSPIRE, the Network Support Programme for Idea Review and Enrichment of the Incubation Companies and SMEs, by the Technopark Technology Business Incubator (T-TBI), the programme was launched was Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark on May 6, 2010 at a function held in Technopark. The inaugural session titled ‘Funding Growth Companies’ was taken by Raja Ganapathy, VP (Marketing), Sequoia Capital.

According to Anoop P Ambika, Secretary, GTech, “We believe that the small and medium companies that were incubated here in Kerala has played a critical role in catapulting the state into a global IT hub. These SME’s provide some unique models and insights on creating new jobs and businesses. As part of our commitment to add value to the Start-ups and SMEs, these strategy sessions would provide an avenue for these companies to benefit from new business opportunities across Industries; networking with the leading strategic, business and policy experts; peer-to-peer collaboration and experience exchange and industry specific and cross industry knowledge sharing.”

In his session, Raja spoke from his experiences as an identity management resource for portfolio companies, and to provide them with marketing, sales and services support. Companies that Sequoia has funded include Cognizant, Café Coffee Day,, Vasan Eye Care and Kerala based Manappuram Finance. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2008, Raja was the Head of Marketing & Communication for Deutsche Bank’s retail banking division. There, he helped launch and establish the brand in India. Previously, Raja worked at Ogilvy Advertising and Brand David.

GTech plans to conduct such strategy sessions every month where the incubation companies can interact with the successful entrepreneurs and businessmen from in and outside Kerala. T-TBI hopes that this will definitely enrich entrepreneurial ideas and lead business ventures into successful enterprises in future.

There was active participation from the Technopark community for this session attended by CEOs from various SMEs. K C C Nair, Secretary & Registrar, T-TBI, Binu Sankar, CEO, GTech and Anoop P Ambika, Secretary, GTech were present for the launch.
