Kerala’s third IT hub ready to roll


UL Cyberpark


Kozhikode: After Technopark and Infopark, its now the turn of Cyberpark to get going. Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan will lay the foundation stone for the Cyberpark in Kozhikode on May 17, 2010. He will also launch the UL Cyberpark, a project by the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) on the adjoining campus at Nellikkode.

The Foundation Stone for the First IT Building of Cyberpark will be laid by Shri Mullappally Ramachandran, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs at a function to be attended by State Minister for Industries and Commerce, Shri Elamaram Kareem and State Minister for Forest and Housing, Shri Binoy Viswam.

The Cyberpark is being developed as a hub and spoke model in the Malabar region similar to Technopark and Infopark. The spokes will be set up in Kannur and Kasaragod. The Land Revenue Commissioner had recently approved the draft declaration for completing the land acquisition process for the Cyberpark.

The UL Cyberpark is coming up on 25.11 acres of land owned by the Urankul Labour Co-operative Society (ULCCS) at Nellikkode adjacent to the Cyberpark. The park will have 22 lakh sq.ft space with an investment of about Rs. 600 crores to generate direct employment of about 22,000 people in the first phase.
