Tvm: The m-Governance programme of the Motor Vehicles Department, Government of Kerala was inaugurated today by Transport Commissioner, V P Joy at the Transport Commissionerate in Thiruvananthapuram. This marks the launch of the Information Services through SMS.
This is a new venture started by the Government as part of the mobile governance (m-Governance) projects to deliver major information services to citizens ‘anytime anywhere’ through mobile technology. As of now Vehicle Details, Application Status, State Transport Authority (STA) Permit Application Status, Allotted Registration Number enquiry, Vehicle Tax, Vehicle Number Booking Range and Status enquiry are the services available through SMS from the Regional Transport Offices across Kerala.
The Kerala State IT Mission is the implementing agency for this innovative venture while the National Informatics Centre, Kerala has developed the software for this project apart from the technical support. Technopark based MobME Wireless Solutions is hosting these services.
To get the list of available services and their SMS format, SMS ‘MVD HELP’ to 537252. There is a service charge of Rs.2 per SMS for BSNL users and Rs.3 for other network users. These services are also available online through the Motor Vehicles Department website.
