Kochi: Videocon Telecommunications, part of India’s leading global business conglomerate – Videocon, today announced the launch of its GSM mobile services in Kerala. The launch is part of their sequential roll-outs covering 100 key cities / towns in 100 days across the country since their debut on March 25, 2010.
Speaking at the launch, Aravind Santhanam, COO, Tamil Nadu and Kerala said, “Videocon will be investing Rs.400 crores in Kerala and about Rs.250 crores has already been invested. The services have been launched with a network of 1500 BTS, which was expected to touch 2500 by the year end to deliver superior services to subscribers across all major towns, national and state highways and important railway stations in the state”.
Announcing its roll out plan, he said Videocon was targeting 100 per cent of the urban population of the state and 70 per cent of the rural population in the coming months.
The brand will have a retail presence in over 15,000 outlets in the state from today and plans to cover 22500 outlets within 6 months, he added.
Deploying a future ready 2.75G EDGE GSM network, Videocon Mobile Services offers subscribers innovative Value-Added Services (VAS) and superior customer service. Videocon Mobile Services will offer an unprecedented sub 1 paise effective tariff, which is designed to suit all pockets with a tariff plan that is transparent and simple. Videocon envisages an overall investment of around Rs.14,000 crores in Videocon Mobile Services over the next three years.
