National Livestock Show & Food Festival goes online


Tvm: The National Livestock Show and Food Festival being organised by the Kerala Government has logged on to cyber space. The event is being organised by the Departments of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Food and Civil Supplies, Legal Metrology and allied public sector undertakings at Thiruvananthapuram from July 23 to 27, 2010.

The website of the National Livestock Show and Food Festival was inaugurated today by Shri Anavoor Nagappan, District Panchayat President in the presence of Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Animal Husbandry Shri C Divakaran and other dignitaries. The logo for the event was also released on the occasion.

The five day event to be held at Kanakakunnu Palace grounds would have exhibitions of various Indian and exotic breeds of livestock, pet animals and birds, sales counter for live animals, animal products coupled with a multitude of cultural events. An ethnic (nadan) food festival will be an added attraction.

According to the Minister, 22 states have expressed their interest to participate in this national livestock exhibition and food festival and the organisers are expecting participation from overseas also. The event would increase the awareness to ensure food security in the country, he added.
