Tvm: The Kerala IT Department with its various agencies will be using the Commonwealth Express train, which arrives in the state next week, to showcase the achievements in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Kerala State IT Mission, Akshaya, C-DIT, IIITM-K, Keltron, NIC and Kerala IT (Technopark & Infopark) are the organisations that would be exhibiting their success stories.
The Commonwealth Express train which began its journey from New Delhi on June 24, 2010 will reach Trivandrum on August 25, 2010 and move to Kollam on August 27 and then Ernakulam on August 28. The train has 11 coaches, five of which feature rare Commonwealth memorabilia and six are for showcasing IT and ICT gains. The exhibition will be open from 10 am to 8 pm with free entry (no platform tickets required).
The exhibition demonstrates the capability and work done in India in the area of ICT, e-Governance, rural IT initiatives and FOSS, to name a few. Announcing the programmes, Dr. Rathan Kelkar IAS, Director, KSITM & C-DIT said, “This is a great initiative by the Indian Railways to endorse ICT through the Commonwealth Express along with promoting sports. The Kerala IT Department and the other agencies here would use this opportunity to showcase Kerala’s IT journey through this exhibition.”
