Tvm: Testhouse India, the Trivandrum based offshore centre of the Software Testing & QA Company headquartered in London, had a high profile guest last week. Andrew Buxton, former CEO & Chairman of Barclays Bank PLC, and currently on the Board of Singapore based DBS Bank, visited the Testhouse office at Trivandrum and also participated in a series of meetings in the city.
Buxton held discussions with the senior management team at Testhouse India. In his capacity as the Chairman of the Advisory Council of Testhouse Ltd., he reviewed the performance and growth plans of Testhouse India and expressed appreciation for the significant growth being currently witnessed by the company.
During his visit to Technopark, Buxton held discussions with senior executives from the Government and the Industry on forward plans, which includes amongst other things, a potential move to the Technopark environment. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Principal Secretary (IT), Govt. of Kerala; Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark; Arun Narayanan, COO, UST Global and Vijay Kumar, CEO, Testhouse (India) were among those present.
Addressing a discussion on ‘IT in Banking and Emerging Opportunities’, Buxton drew attention to the technology innovations within the banking sector and how it has boosted efficiencies of operations. According to him, “The increased deployment of technological interventions will not reduce the requirement for banks or bankers, as the personal touch is a necessary ingredient towards relationship building”. He opined that while there would be a trend towards a lean backend operation, the number of resources required for customer facing roles, would only increase. Referring to the recent crisis in the banking industry, he elaborated on the temptation of banks to take increased risks and cautioned on the need for good governance practices, where all Board members are fully knowledgeable on issues, and lend their considered consent before embarking on potentially precarious decisions.
The company commenced operations in 2000 and has witnessed steady growth over the years. The Testhouse India office in Trivandrum was opened in April 2001.
