Tvm: Government of Kerala’s shopping extravaganza, the Grand Kerala Shopping Festival, will introduce online shopping for the fourth edition of the festival which goes live from December 01, 2010. The 45-day Grand Kerala Shopping Festival (GKSF) will go on till January 15, 2011.
In a release, T Balakrishnan IAS, General Convenor of the GKSF and Principal Secretary (Industries and Commerce), GoK said, “It is for the first time that such a system is being introduced for a shopping festival and the government is hopeful that the traders in the State will get the benefit from this novel facility”. This system will enable netizens from any part of the world to shop through the GKSF website from any of the firms registered for the shopping festival.
Shops interested in participating in the online shopping festival can register through the official website of GKSF. A nominal fee would be levied from these parties to provide the online shopping facility. “The traders who enrol for the online facility would get the opportunity to showcase the products to the world and could announce instant offers and discounts to shoppers”, he added. The list of the firms that offers the online shopping facility and the products on offer will be displayed on the GKSF website.
The festival, started in 2007, has been conceived and organised to give a big leap for the trade and commerce in Kerala. The festival is conducted by Tourism Department in co-ordination with the Department of Industries & Commerce, Finance Department and Local Self Government Department.
