Tvm: The National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Department of Information Technology under Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, has implemented e-Office across NIC’s Kerala State units with effect from October 01, 2010.
As part of the process, a half-day workshop on e-Office implementation was conducted for the Officers of NIC Kerala State Unit on October 04, 2010 at Trivandrum. As per the direction to move all receipts and technical proposals digitally using e-Office, detailed demonstration with hands-on session was conducted to familiarise officers in using the different features available in the e-file movement system.
e-Office is one of the Mission Mode Projects (MMP), under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). The project is aimed at significantly improving the operational efficiency of Central Government Ministries and Departments through improvement in the workflow mechanisms and associated office procedure manuals. The project is being implemented thorough NIC.
Apart from workflow automation and automation of routine tasks, e-Office also aims at quick access at a systematic approach to storage, retrieval, communication, integration and publication of information available in different formats such as documents, statistics etc. The implementation would also result in improved transparency while maintaining the confidentiality and security in a modern office environment.
