Binu Koshy, COO, GSS & Centre Head (Trivandrum) EY said, “We will be recruiting over 300 IT professionals in the next few months. This is an excellent opportunity for people from Kerala to come back”. Starting with just 10 people from the Park Centre at Technopark in 2002, the Trivandrum centre now has 680 people and two offices inside the Technopark campus (Gayatri & Tejaswani).
Talking to Kerala IT News, Tim Eddy, Global Vice Chair – EY Global Services said, “The Global Shared Services Centre of Ernst & Young at Technopark, Trivandrum is a key location on our global map. The centre plays a prominent role in supporting our IT operations across 140 countries. Availability of good talent, the track record of the team here and the cost benefit of the operations in Kerala are some of the reasons for our expansion”. Tim, an industry veteran who has been with Ernst & Young since 1977, is on his fourth visit to Technopark this year.
“Since Infrastructure support, Application development and Security systems are the focus areas of our work here in Technopark, we would be recruiting professionals skilled in these fields. We would like to hit the 1,000 figure mark by December 31, 2010”, Binu added.
The Ernst & Young centre at Technopark became the Global Shared Services Centre in July this year and functions as the back office for their global operations. Prior to this, it was a support centre for Ernst & Young Middle East. EY Global Services Centres also operates out of Bangalore and Gurgaon in India, with over 1,44,000 employees worldwide providing Finance and Project Management services.
