Kerala Police launches Sabarimala information website

Sabarimala: The Kerala Police has launched a website to give information to pilgrims on Sabarimala and also to help the devotees in getting Police assistance. The website, a Digital Monitoring System for increasing security measures at Sabarimala and a SMS service system was inaugurated by the State Home Minister Shri Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on December 11, 2010 at Pamba.

The multi-lingual website Kerala Police @ Sabarimala gives information related to the pilgrimage in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. The website has details like number of devotees waiting for darshan, movement of devotees through the hill route and other necessary arrangements regarding darshan. This website will also help to make an understanding between the Police and the devotees coming to Sabarimala.

Some of the other useful information available on the site are vehicle parking facilities, queue system, climatic condition at Sabarimala, precautions, information regarding missing persons and those found out from missing and pooja timings. The vehicle parking availability, queue facilities and climatic condition are being updated hourly.

To use the SMS facility, the devotees can send SMS to 537252 from any part of Kerala to get information regarding vehicle parking, queue facility, climate condition and other emergency service. The SMS send by devotees will be reaching the Kerala Police Message Centre (KPMC) immediately and they will be given service from Pamba and Sannidhanam Police Control Room, Pamba and Sannidhanam Police Station and other Station House Officers (SHO).

The Digital Monitoring System involves twenty cameras installed at various points between Pamba and Sannidhanam for identifying any anti-social elements coming along with the devotees. The cameras will be capturing the images of those coming to Sabarimala and the recorded images can be used for further verifications. The control of these cameras will be from the Police Control rooms in Pamba and Sannidhanam. Contrary to reports earlier, the website will not include matters relating to security measures at Sabarimala.

The website is being maintained by the State Crime Records Bureau of Kerala Police.
