State School IT Fest 2011 starts off at Technopark

Tvm: The 2011 edition of the State School IT Fest got off to a colourful start at the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram today. Technopark Club, the venue of the fest wore a festive look and was a beehive of activity with about 300 students from all Districts in Kerala accompanied by about 100 teachers.

Inaugurating the IT Fest, the State Education Minister Shri M A Baby said that Kerala should aim to be the first complete computer literate State in the country. He added that the efforts of the IT@School project should be able help achieve this feat at the earliest.

The Minister also launched the telecast of ‘IT for All’ show on ViCTERS channel after dedicating the internationally acclaimed ‘Stockholm Challenge Award-2010’ received by IT@School Project to the entire teaching and learning populace of the State.

Malayalam Typing, Digital Painting, IT Project, Multimedia Presentation and IT Quiz were the different competitions that were held today under different categories. The first and second prize winners at the District level competitions are participating in these contests. An IT show and two seminars were also held today where the students got to interact with experts from the IT Industry.

The IT Fest will conclude tomorrow and the prizes would be given away at the valedictory function to be held tomorrow evening.
