Ernakulam wins State School IT Fest championship


Tvm: Ernakulam District emerged as the overall winners at the State School IT Fest 2011that concluded at the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram today. KPES High School Kayakkodi, Kozhikode and WOHSS Pinangodu, Wayanad got the best High School and Higher Secondary School prizes respectively.

Ernakulam led the tally with 87 points with Kozhikode as the runner up with 76 points followed by Malappuram. The prizes were given at the valedictory session by Smt. Anshu Vaish IAS, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. In her speech, Anshu said that her coming down to Kerala was a pilgrimage to pay tribute to the efforts taken by the State in the field of education. She added that use of free software in Kerala is extremely commendable.

The second and last day of the State School IT Fest saw the finals of the IT Quiz apart from the Web Designing contests. There was also a screening of nine animation movies conceived and animated by the students from various schools using free software apart from a seminar of IT security. The new website of the ViCTERs Channel was also launched today.
