NIT Kozhikode to host FossMeet from February 04


Kozhikode: The National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode (NIT-C) will be hosting the seventh edition of FossMeet during February 4-6, 2011. FossMeet, a three-day technical event pertaining to free and open source software has over the years gained popularity as one of the best Foss events in India.

The event will feature wide range of workshops, bofs, discussions and lectures by eminent personalities. It will also consist of various hands on sessions which would help in contributing to various open source projects. The event is jointly organised by a group of professional student organisations – IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Student Branch, FossCell and Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter in association with the Computer Science and Engineering Association, all based in NIT-C.

Delegates attending the event will include FOSS enthusiasts and students from large number of institutions mainly from the southern parts of India. According to the organisers, “The response so far has been encouraging. Since free and open source software movements have taken long strides in the past few years in Kerala, we expect to have a participation of 400 delegates in FossMeet 2011”. 

The event will include some of the finest promoters of FOSS and talented minds from the FOSS community. The speakers will be a vastly experienced and a passionate bunch of people who will be very keen to share their knowledge and work with students and professionals who are interested to become a part of the community.
