Tvm: The Technopark based Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala will soon have its own campus at the Technocity in Trivandrum. Chief Minister Shri V S Achuthanandan unveiled the foundation stone for the Institute’s campus at a function held on February 17, 2011 at Technopark.
S Goplakrishnan (Kris), CEO & MD of Infosys and also Chairman, Board of Directors of IIITM-K presented the roadmap for the Institute on the occasion. IIITM-K now functions out of the Nila building in the Technopark campus. The construction of its own building in Technopark is going on and the first phase of the campus is expected to ready by April. With a built up space of about 35,000 sq. ft., the institute is building one of India’s most advanced and hi-tech infrastructure with state-of-the-art computer labs, classrooms, library and conference halls.
The new residential campus will come up on 10 acres at Technocity. The campus will have the academic blocks, labs, hostels and staff quarters. The new facility will help IIITM-K scale up its operations. Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark and Dr. Sherly Elizebeth, Director, IIITM-K will be present.
Technocity is being developed in 450 acres of land in Pallippuram, 5 kms north of the Technopark main campus on the NH 47 towards Kollam, as an integrated township, encompassing IT / ITeS infrastructure, residential apartments, shopping malls, hospitals, hotels, educational institutions, and other support facilities. The project was launched in June 2010.
