New Delhi: Innovators, its time to register for participating in the FICCI DST-Lockheed Martin India Innovation Growth Programme 2012. The Programme is a nation-wide project, created to enhance the growth and development of India’s entrepreneurial economy. The project has been running successfully since 2007 and approximately 200 agreements have been signed between innovators and industry partners, helping innovators enter into the commercial space. The cumulative revenue generated by the 2007-09 participants during 2007-10 amounted to more than Rs.350 crores.
The Programme is equally funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and Lockheed Martin Corporation, and was developed with the assistance of the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum, IC2 Institute at the University of Texas, and FICCI. The overall goal is to accelerate the launch of Indian early-stage technologies into the global marketplace.
The programme is open to technologies from a wide range of fields including Aeronautics, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Communications, Computing, Defence, Electronics, Environmental, IT, Manufacturing, Marine, Materials, Medical / Life Sciences, Nanotech, Petrochemical, Semiconductors and Transportation.
Applicants who would be selected to participate in the programme can look forward to getting trained in technology commercialisation strategies and entrepreneurship, apart from analysis of commercial potential of their technology. The participation in a technology competition is judged by an international panel of experts. The programme finalists will also receive additional benefits like professional business development assistance and access to US and global markets.
It may be recalled that two TBI incubated companies from Technopark, Trivandrum – Artin Dynamics and Light Logics, figured in the list of 50 business deals announced between the India Innovation Growth Programme winners and industry partners at the Technology Expo held in Thiruvananthapuram in September, 2011.
