Kozhikode: Inauguration of the QuickSpace building, project launch of UL Technology Solutions and the laying of the foundation stone for the first Software Development Building will mark the start of the first phase of UL CyberPark, a project owned & promoted by Uralungal Labour Co-operative Society (ULCCS), the biggest Labour Contract Society in Kerala. Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy will formally inaugurate these initiatives on January 20, at ULCCS SEZ in Nellikode near Kozhikode.
Briefing the media, P Rameshan, Chairman & Managing Director, UL Cyberpark said, “UL CyberPark is the first IT Park of Kozhikode and also the first IT Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Malabar region. The Park is being set up in 25.11 acres of land and will have a total built up area of 3.1 million sq. ft. The project is being developed in two phases. The construction of first phase began in June, 2011 and is expected to be fully operational by December 2012 with a total built up area of 14 lakh sq. ft. When both the phases are completed, it is can provide direct employment to 20,000 IT & ITeS professionals and indirect employment to 80,000. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.600 crores.”
QuickSpace is ULCCS’ commitment to support infrastructure incubation to deserving start up companies in IT. Fully furnished space will be offered to start-up initiatives so that the companies can keep their initial investment low and can start their operations without wasting time. The QuickSpace building boasts of facilities like fit-outs, furniture, fixtures, fittings, air-conditioning outlets etc. enabling an entrepreneur to start an IT business within an hour.
M/s Nikken Sekkei of Japan is the Master Planner for the project and M/s CRN is undertaking the building architecture and services for a self-contained IT campus with modern amenities. All IT buildings are expected to be Green certified making UL CyberPark the first fully green LEED certified IT Park in Kerala.
