Tvm: Thanks to Saasvaap Techies, a Trivandrum based IT Services Company, text book distribution in schools across Kerala for the forthcoming academic year (2012-13) is expected to complete by April. All the ground work required for the early delivery of the textbooks has been successfully completed and they will be delivered once academic results are declared. The Postal Department will deliver the Textbooks to the corresponding societies, who thereafter, will deliver the textbooks to the schools.
Till last year, the complaints about the book distribution across the schools in Kerala were mainly on the non-delivery of sufficient number of books. The main reason for this was the fact that the exact indents on the requirements of the schools were not received in time. T K Jose IAS, MD, Kerala Books and officials of the Education Department came up with an initiative of developing a web based indent system. Saasvaap Techies has developed the Online Indent Management System for Kerala Books with the help of their IT team. Using this online system, the schools across Kerala can successfully post the required number of books.
Arun Kumar, CEO, Saasvaap Techies said, “The biggest challenge was getting everyone to use the online system, especially in some of the rural areas. When the pilot version of the Indent Management System (IMS) was released, about 80% of the schools across Kerala participated online and the requirement of the remaining schools was collected through email. After the final rollout, 100% schools across Kerala participated successfully and the data of the required number of books by each school was compiled. The system generates District wise, Society wise, School wise reports and other relevant reports, as required”. The online IMS helps the Government to submit the accurate print order to Kerala Books for more than 12,000 schools across Kerala, the ultimate beneficiaries being the lakhs of students.
A Logistics Management System (LMS), also developed by Saasvaap Techies, helps the Kerala Books IT Team to track the flow of goods between the Kerala Books Office to the Hubs and from the Hubs to the different societies and finally to the respective schools on the basis of the requirement information from the online IMS. The LMS enables integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, packaging and security.
With offices in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, Saasvaap Techies focuses on open source applications based web solutions. State Government departments like Kerala Roads & Bridges and Kudumbasree are some of their clients.
