Tvm: After a successful campaign in Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai & Chennai, Nasscom, the premier trade body and the chamber of commerce of the IT-BPO industries in India, is all set to roll out a Group Health Insurance policy programme for start-up’s, emerging, medium and large IT companies in Kerala. All the policies will run under an umbrella plan called Nasscom HealthActive Plan, a common medical insurance programme that Nasscom is offering to their member companies since January 2012.
According to K Purushothaman, Regional Director, Nasscom – TN, Kerala & Puduchery, “We had initiated this group buying programme a couple of months back and have worked out a mechanism that will help entrepreneurs, employees as well as the medical insurance provider”. Majority of Nasscom members in other cities have opted for this programme and Nasscom is expecting a good response in Kerala too.
Under the programme, there are two sum insured – Rs.1 lakh and Rs.3 lakh, and there are four options for each plan. The companies will enter the policy in course of the policy period and all policies shall co-terminate. The renewal for all the companies under this plan shall be on the same date. Each company selects the base cover for all its employees. When a new company comes into this plan the premium computation shall be done on a pro-rata basis for the balance period of the policy.
If an employee who is covered under the HealthActive plan leaves the company and joins another Nasscom member company which is part of the plan, there will be a deletion and a premium refund if the employee is covered under the plan of the new company but there will be no refund if there is a claim.
The employees are eligible for tax breaks on under section 80D for premium paid by them. The sum insured covers the employee and family members (if selected) on a floater basis. All covers from day 1.There will be no waiting periods.
A session to familiarise the plan and the nuances of the exclusive Group Health Insurance for Nasscom Members will be held on April 12, 2012 at the Park Centre in Technopark campus, Trivandrum.
