Trivandrum: The live and on-demand webcasting of the proceedings of the Kerala Legislative Assembly was inaugurated by the Speaker, Shri G Karthikeyan at the Niyamasabha today. The live and on-demand webcast facility is accessible on Niyamasabha.org, the official website of Kerala State Legislative Assembly. Even though the live webcasting of the proceedings was started from the last session, only the Question Hour was webcast live till now.
With the launch of this facility, the entire proceedings of the Kerala Legislative Assembly are being webcast live and they will also be available as ‘on-demand’ video clippings of 30 minutes duration each, from the next day. While the videos of the proceedings will be available as archives on the website till the next session, the videos of Governor’s speech and the Budget presentation will be available for one year. The archives can be searched with multiple parameters based on Member, Event, Date or Session, as required by the user.
In his inaugural comments, the Speaker said that this is yet another step to increase the transparency of the way the House works. “People sitting anywhere can now see anytime what their elected representatives are doing in the Assembly. This will increase the responsibility of the MLAs and the Ministers, and also, the accountability of the elected members and their performance in the Legislative Assembly.”, he added.
The live and on-demand webcasting facility and its website has been developed and deployed by the Institute of Human Resource Development (IHRD), a Government of Kerala Undertaking, in association with the IT Section of the Kerala Legislative Assembly and the Electronics division of PWD.
