SmartCity Kochi hosts Australian Trade Commission


Kochi: SmartCity Kochi, a joint venture between the Dubai based SmartCity and the Government of Kerala, hosted the visit of a high profile delegation from the Australian Trade Commission, Austrade, which is the Australian Government’s trade and investment development agency, on August 23, 2012.

The delegation headed by Michael Carter, Trade Commissioner, Australian Trade Commission visited the SmartCity Kochi pavilion with an aim to evaluate business opportunities between SmartCity Kochi and Australian companies, seeking to set up a base in SmartCity Kochi. He was accompanied by Roshen Paul, Business Development Manager for Kerala, Australian Trade Commission.

Dean George, Director, Business Development of SmartCity Kochi, welcomed the delegation and gave a brief presentation on the unique benefits offered by the project. The companies operating within the SmartCity Kochi vicinity will reap from the advantages of being part of SmartCity’s International network of Business Townships leveraging from a host of benefits; such as, sharing of best practices, creation of partnerships, and expansion of business operations to the Middle East, North Africa and the EU.

The delegation was also taken through the SmartCity Kochi Pavilion which is a precursor to the global standards and best practices followed in architectural design for the project.

SmartCity is a conglomerate promoted by Dubai Holding member, TECOM Investments, to develop and manage Knowledge Industry Townships Worldwide. Once developed, SmartCity Kochi will be one of India’s largest business parks. Based on the successful models of Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Dubai Knowledge Village, SmartCity Kochi will provide an infrastructure, environment and support systems to promote the growth of knowledge-based industry companies.
