Trivandrum: California based IT Services and Solutions Provider and Kerala’s largest IT sector employer, UST Global today announced its expansion to the Latin American region in accordance with the rapidly evolving near-shoring strategy widely acknowledged as the need of the hour in the industry. UST Global will set up a development centre at Leon in Mexico to cater to US, Mexican and Latin American markets.
Interacting with the media, Sajan Pillai, CEO, UST Global said, “The Company is setting up an IT services and solutions facility in the city of Leon in Guanamato, Mexico at an investment of $100-150 million and will eventually house up to 10,000 employees in 2-3 years. This will be the largest IT centre in Mexico. One third of the centre will service business in US, another one third with cater to the Mexican clients and the remaining one third will look after the Latin American Spanish speaking markets.” It may be noted that UST Global has a centre in Chile also.
Vicente Fox Quesada, former President of Mexico and noted social entrepreneur, who was also present on the occasion, said, “The knowledge capital of UST Global in IT and allied services would play a huge role in strengthening the economy of Mexico. IT is the way to reduce poverty and increase job opportunities. Our association with UST Global will go a long way in tackling the development issues in Mexico and building a knowledge economy.”
Vicente Fox is the key promoter of the non-profit Centro Fox foundation, which is facilitating UST Global’s entry into the continent of South America. “Mexico has a robust presence in technology, manufacturing, as well as the time-zone and proximity advantages in the context of prime markets like the United States of America”, he added.
Sajan also said that that major companies around the world are now looking at a ‘plus one’ strategy, where a complementary outsourcing destination is identified, such as Mexico to support India operations. He added the UST Global, which is into its 13th year is doing well and has registered a growth of 30-35% this year and has got new projects from Latin America and Middle East.
Headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, UST Global is based out of Technopark, Trivandrum and has centres in Infopark, Kochi; Chennai and Bangalore.
