Kozhikode: A national level workshop on ‘Enterprise 2.0 – Enterprise Knowledge Management’ will be held at IIM Kozhikode from November 19-21, 2012. Knowledge has undoubtedly become the key economic resource and the dominant source of competitive as well as comparative advantage for the enterprise of the 21st Century. Managing and retaining the enterprise’s tacit knowledge is the major challenge before every organization now.
And there is also the vast amount of explicit and recorded knowledge that is already possessed by the enterprise, which keeps growing, adding to the complexity of its efficient access, utility and management. The 3-Day programme shall rigorously map and capture the strengths of Knowledge Management systems that enable the meticulous extraction, access and coordination of knowledge assets that are embodied in people as well as embedded in the processes and procedures being practiced by the enterprise.
All the major facets of the enterprise’s knowledge management functions such as strategy, human aspect, technologies, processes, roadmap, maturity, metrics and measurements, communities of practice and innovation etc. will be among the topics covered. Technologies reviewed will include intranets, discussion groups, groupware / collaborative spaces, social software & Web 2.0 tools, content management systems and knowledge repositories, in both individual and organizational contexts.
Underlining the dire need of knowledge management by the modern enterprises, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, said “At a time when India has started actively participating and partnering with the knowledge economy, ideas and knowledge have become the principal raw materials and the intellectual capital, a critical metric for determining the economic value of an enterprise”.
