ZoomTech launches search engine for Doctors and Hospitals

Trivandrum: ZoomTech, an IT start-up company based here, has launched Doctorscabin.com, a comprehensive search engine for locating Doctors or Hospitals by selecting City or State or Speciality. The health portal provides information and communication tools for patients to help them connect better with hospitals, doctors, healthcare and medical service providers.

Announcing the launch at Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram; Mini Balaraman, CEO, ZoomTech and the brain behind of Doctorscabin.com said, “Our vision is to make Doctorscabin.com a household name for the health needs of people across India. We aim to have all hospitals and doctors across India registered with us. As of now, we have over 12,000 doctors and 1,200 hospitals registered on the website where patients can search, inform and educate themselves for their medical needs. We want to help the common people make an informed decision when selecting their doctor or hospital.”

Doctorscabin.com was born out of a necessity when Mini, an IT professional, relocated to Trivandrum after working in USA for 14 years. “Being new to this place, we had a hard time finding a paediatrician for my kids. I found out that it’s mostly through word of mouth that people select their doctors here unlike in the US where majority of the people use the web to find doctors / hospitals, book appointments, see ratings of doctors, etc. I felt those kinds of systems were very useful, time saving and efficient. At that time I decided that I can use my IT and Healthcare background to start a search engine for Doctors and Hospitals”, said Mini.

The portal is also being planned as a platform for patients to meet similar patients online, to interact and share their experiences with others. Using this feature any patient can discuss, share and inform themselves about their sickness by discussing with similar patients.

The portal is also expected to give a boost to medical tourism. During the beta launch period last month, the site had over 200,000 page views and 60,000 visitors.
