Trivandrum: Thrissur based Joythi Engineering College has emerged as the winners of the first Techathlon organised by the ICT Academy of Kerala, with Kochi based TocH Institute of Science and Technology as runners up. The third and final round of the State wide Techathlon was held at the Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram.
The first prize winners got Rs 1,00,000 /- while the second prize winners won Rs. 50,000/-. Both winning teams will also get an opportunity to attend a two-day workshop at the Fablabs setup by Kerala Startup Mission.
Six teams qualified for the finals after the college and regional rounds that were held in individual colleges and the three regional events held at Kollam, Trissur and Kozhikode respectively.
The six finalists were Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering Technology, Carmel Engineering College, Jyothi Engineering College, North Malabar Institute of Technology, Sree Buddha College of Engineering and Toc H Institute of Science & Technology.
“The ICTAK-Techathlon is a novel way of inspiring young minds to gain skills that will help in fulfilling their career dreams as a future Employee or as Entrepreneurs. We are very happy at the quality of students who participated in the event and we will continue our efforts through these contests every year”, said Santhosh Kurup, CEO of ICT Academy.
The contest was held in a unique format created by ICT Academy, aligned to the job selection process where each team had to win points on Technical Quiz, Team activity, Coding competition, Presentation and Extempore Speech. The points from individual events were accumulated to declare the winner and the runner-up.
