Trivandrum: VST Travel Solutions (Vehiclest.com), a company based in KSIDC’s Start-up Zone at INKEL Business Park in Angamaly, has launched a programme in the capital city to ensure the services of autorickshaws through a mobile app.
The scheme will include only those autorickshaws that are registered at Akshaya centres. The programme ‘Vehicle ST Smart Auto’ was inaugurated by the District Collector, Biju Prabhakar today. The first trip of the autorickshaw under the scheme was flagged off from the Janamaitri auto stand near Pettah Police Station.
“The city Police and Administration would benefit if the smart auto scheme ultimately leads to a system by which the entire autorickshaws in the city can be monitored”, said Biju. There are about 1 lakh autorickshaws plying in Thiruvananthapuram.
Launching the portal, K Mohammed Y Safarullah, Director, Kerala State IT Mission said, “Apart from providing safety for the passengers, the new initiative will generate additional revenue for the Akshaya centres. The registration for auto drivers who wish to join the new scheme will start on February 15.”
The service will be provided by the website vehiclest.com and the mobile app of the site. The app can be downloaded from Google play store. Specially programmed tablet computers will be provided in each vehicle to offer the best services to the passenger.
Alwin George, CEO, Vehiclest said, “The interaction of the driver with each passenger can be monitored by the company. The traveller can use navigation to understand the route and also use it for browsing. The entire programme has been used, tested and proved in cities like Bangalore. We hope to enrol 1,000 autos in the first six months. The company has decided to provide free trips to regional cancer centre in the initial phase, as part of our CSR.”
Apart from auto, other vehicles like taxi cars, tourist buses etc can be made available through the same route. Users can search for emergency services like ambulances, recovery vehicles, bulldozer etc using the app. It will also offer services like flight ticket booking. Services of automobile service and repair centres will also be provided through the app.
