Trivandrum: Dr. Syed Ibrahim, Founder and Managing Director of the Technopark based IT services and products company Palnar Transmedia, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kerala. The Honorary Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in the capital city will be officially inaugurated by Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan on October 14, 2016 at a function to be held in Trivandrum. Dr. Syed Ibrahim, who is also the Director of the German language and cultural centre Goethe-Zentrum since its opening here in 2008, will be installed in his office by the German Consul General, Margit Hellwig-Boette.
Dr. Syed, an honorary representative of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce or the AHK Indien, was conferred Germany’s Cross of the Order of Merit by the German President in 2015 to recognise the tireless commitment he has displayed for many years for the benefit of Indo-German relations. As the Director of Goethe Zentrum working under the auspices of the world-wide network of Goethe-Institut, Syed has been instrumental in promoting German language and cultural programmes in Kerala apart from acting as the fulcrum for academic, scientific and business collaborations between Kerala and Germany.
Founded in 1998 as the first IT startup in Technopark, Trivandrum; Palnar Transmedia offers software development outsourcing that primarily focuses on providing both offshore and onsite software development. There are hundreds of companies offering IT services and products in Technopark but Palnar is the only company in Kerala, which not only has technical competence but also a very special USP namely German language knowhow which is quite natural as most of their clients are from German speaking countries like Switzerland and Austria apart from Germany itself.
