Trivandrum: DigiDhan Mela, an awareness camp about various digital payment systems, being organized by the Kerala State Electronics & IT department in association with Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) will be held on February 11, 2017 at Tagore Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram. The capital city is one among 100 cities in India selected to conduct the mela.
The event is meant to generate awareness among citizens and merchants about various digital payment systems available. It also aims to handhold users in downloading, installing and using various digital payment systems for carrying out digital transactions. The initiative plans to enable citizens and merchants to undertake real time digital transactions.
The event will witness participation from leading banks, telecom companies, mobile wallet operators, prominent oil marketing companies, Akshaya, Aadhaar enabled payment system (AEPS) vendors, Department of Agriculture, merchants (through Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samiti, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, Kerala Chamber of Commerce), agricultural produce marketing committees and fertilizer marketing committees etc.
The participants will be explaining various options available for digital payments, they will also be assisting visitors in downloading and installing various mobile apps for digital payments and helped them do one digital transaction. During the day event, help will also be extended to citizens for opening their bank accounts, to enrol them into Aadhaar and to enable their existing accounts into AEPS accounts.
DigiDhan Mela will include camps organised at State level and at bank branch levels. This Mela is primarily targeted at urban populace and looks to supplement the rural effort of promoting digital payments being led by the Akshaya Centres. The Mela will provide free Wi-Fi to enable citizens to download and install mobile apps for aiding on the spot digital payments.
As part of the event National Payment Corportation of India (NCPI) will draw lucky winner in two categories Lucky Grahak Yojana for consumers and Digidhan Vyapar yojana for merchants from Kerala, who have conducted digital transactions through RuPay Card, USSD, UPI and AEPS channels.
