In his address, the Chief Minister said, “Nissan coming to Thiruvananthapuram marks the beginning of a new era for Kerala IT. We will do our best to ensure Kerala proves to be Nissan’s second home after Japan.”
Nissan Global Digital Hub is a 24,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility located in Kerala’s IT hub, Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram and will be the first of its kind in a number of IT development centres in Asia, Europe North America and Latin America. These centres will drive digital transformation for Nissan’s business by placing digital technology at the heart of key operations and services. The hub here will allow Nissan to provide application portfolio management, best-in-class user experiences, product development capabilities, data science, cybersecurity and connectivity as the automotive industry evolves, with the growing use of autonomous, connected and electric vehicle technology.
Earlier, briefing the media, Tony said, “Since our announcement of this centre in June earlier this year, we have recruited 350 employees and our plan is to have 500 by the end of this financial year. We have had good success in attracting talent from different parts of the country and the world and the Trivandrum facility will be home for 50% of Nissan’s worldwide digital workforce. It is heartening to note that Nissan’s vendors are adding more employees in Trivandrum thus making up the eco-system. Future plans include our own campus in Technocity.”
